Tuesday's Burning Musical Questions (since I didn't do one for Monday :p )

I may just shift to Tuesdays instead... for some reason the Monday one is getting, I don't know, boring. It's always the same question. I found this one on another blog, it's a one-off, but it's fascinating.

Name your top 10 most played bands on iTunes (or last.fm):
1.) Led Zeppelin
2.) Pink Floyd
3.) Porcupine Tree
4.) Opeth
5.) Portishead
6.) Queens of the Stone Age
7.) Queensryche
8.) ZZ Top
9.) Crack The Sky
10.) Morphine

What was the first song you ever heard by 6 (QotSA)?
That would probably be "No One Knows".

What is your favorite album of 2 (Pink Floyd)?
Oh, "Wish You Were Here". No contest.

What is your favorite lyric that 5 (Portishead) has sung?
"It's only you, who can tell me apart / And it's only you, who can turn my wooden heart"...('Only You')

How many times have you seen 4 (Opeth) live?
Zero. But they're coming to town on October 26th. You can best believe that I'll be there.

What is your favorite song by 7 (Queensryche)?
Ouch. That's a tough one. I guess I'd have to say it's a tie between "Della Brown" and "Silent Lucidity", both off of 'Empire'.

What is a good memory you have involving the music of 10 (Morphine)?
I was driving on a day trip to Western Maryland a couple of years ago,had it in the car player, and it was just perfect driving music. Especially at night.

Is there a song of 3 (Porcupine Tree) that makes you sad?
Haha, is this a trick question? A lot of their stuff makes me very wistful. But I'd say... probably "A Smart Kid" is going to make me tear up the quickest.

What is your favorite lyric that 2 (Pink Floyd) has sung?
"Did you see the frightened ones / Did you see the falling bombs / The flames are all long gone / but the pain lingers on"... (from 'Goodbye Blue Sky')

How did you get into 3 (Porcupine Tree)?
My friend Luke introduced me to it. He does know his shit when it comes to music, yes indeed.

What was the first song you heard by 1 (Led Zeppelin)?
Oh, dear Christ. I've been listening to them pretty much since the day I was born, so I'm not even sure I can answer that question. As a matter of fact, I know I can't. Sorry. LZ's been ingrained into my ears since I was conceived, heh.

What is your favorite song by 4 (Opeth)?
"Hours of Wealth". It has a special meaning to me.

How many times have you seen 9 (Crack The Sky) live?
Sadly, zero. I'll never get to see the original lineup with John Palumbo, that's been long gone. But they do still tour. Maybe the next time they hit the Recher Theater...hrrm.

What is a good memory you have involving 2 (Pink Floyd)?
Hmmm. I'm not really sure that I have one, most of PF's stuff is very depressing and dark to me. Especially "The Wall", I can't even listen to that anymore because it makes me feel suicidal. I think when I listen to "Wish You Were Here", that's not too bad and the music is certainly divine.

Is there a song of 8 (ZZ Top) that makes you sad?
Actually, no. ZZ's stuff is very bluesy-rock, very much driving music. They've never put out a ballad - the closest thing they have to it is "I Thank You" and that's nowhere near tearjerker status. It does, however, have one mean, slinky riff.

What is your favorite album of 5 (Portishead)?
I like them all, but if my back were to the wall, I'd say the first one, "Dummy".

What is your favorite lyric that 3 (Porcupine Tree) has sung?
"A spaceship from another star / They ask me where all the people are / What can I tell them? / I tell them I'm the only one / There was a war but I must have won / Please take me with you."... (from 'A Smart Kid')

What is your favorite song of 1 (Led Zeppelin)?
Again, a very difficult question, as I have several depending on my mood. Right now I think it's going to be "Trampled Under Foot", though.

What is your favorite song of 10 (Morphine)?
"You Look Like Rain".

How many times have you seen 8 (ZZ Top) live?
Zero.

What is your favorite album of 1 (Led Zeppelin)?
Again, that varies wildly. Right now I'd say "BBC Sessions".

What is a great memory you have considering 9 (Crack The Sky)?
Most of those memories would involve my childhood - I remember growing up and listening to "Hot Razors In My Heart" on 98 Rock and liking it... but not knowing why I liked it, heh.

What was the first song you heard by 8 (ZZ Top)?
Probably "Tubesteak Boogie". I love that track.

What is your favorite cover by 2 (Pink Floyd)?
Pink Floyd did cover songs? Oh, hell, no, I don't think so.
